Cape Coral Communities
Florida At Its Best
Cape Coral offers many miles of canals for newcomers which find our waterways as one of the most exciting features. Boating and water sports are a major reason many of our residents and visitors come to Cape Coral. Even residents from other parts of Florida are aware of our canals if they have driven in our city and tried to maneuver around them.
The Waterfront Wonderland
In the late 1950s, Jack and Leonard Rosen planned an ambitious project to carve out 100 square miles of barren scrubland and pine trees to create Cape Coral, and they marketed the new city as a Waterfront Wonderland. Before they could begin digging the canals they had to clear the original vegetation and pine trees that had been lumbered from the 1920s to the 1940s.
Innumerable Choices
For residents who want a boat in their backyard, no other place in the world offers the choices we have. Cape Coral offers riverfront property with unbeleiveably wide water views, saltwater lakes, direct sailboat access, canals with longer travel time, freshwater lakes an canals for infrequent boaters, and many a grand view. For others, fishing the river and canals is a popular sport.
Whether you are a boater, a resident or a visitor, the waterways in Cape Coral add to our quality of life. Our waterways are a primary reason that many of us choose to live here.
